A Speech and Language Therapist, originally from South Africa. I completed my training at the University of Reading, United Kingdom. I have worked in pediatrics with a wide range of difficulties and disorders such as Autism, social pragmatic difficulties, Down’s syndrome, attention difficulties, language delays and disorders, articulation and phonological delay/disorders, hearing impairment, auditory processing disorders, dyspraxia, and stammering.

I am extremely passionate about the work I do and am fully committed to each and every child and family with whom I work. I encourage family involvement throughout the therapy process to ensure a holistic approach is provided. I strongly believe in providing intervention that is ethical, individualized, and child-centred.

Yara Akemi Inuy

Yara is a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant / Language Specialist  who has experience working with monolingual and bilingual children with a variety of communication difficulties and identified diagnoses, in both clinics and hospitals. By implementing speech and language programs as planned and directed by Speech and Language therapists, she is able to assist in the treatment of speech, language, voice, fluency, and literacy disorders, and in the training of parents and other professionals.

Yara conducts language enrichment programs at Treetop for Portuguese and English speakers which aim to create opportunities to enhance children’s language and cognitive skills.  Yara  delivers accent modification sessions for children and adults who seek to modify their English accent.

In my view, each child is unique and play-based activities that tap into children’s profile are key. I enjoy creating a positive and rich environment for learning through strategies that stimulate children’s abilities, while also keeping them engaged and motivated. I also believe that providing support to parents and caretakers is essential for a successful intervention”.

I am a speech and language therapist with a full registration under the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) in Singapore. I graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2018. Prior to my current appointment, I have had the opportunity to work with students between the ages of two and six, in both the early intervention and mainstream preschool settings. Currently, I work with preschool- and school-aged students in mainstream preschool and international school settings. I have worked with the pediatric
population with a range of difficulties and diagnoses, including children with speech and language delays or disorders, autism spectrum disorder, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, profound intellectual and multiple disabilities, social-communication difficulties, and global developmental delay.

I firmly believe in every child’s ability and right to learn and to communicate. I value every opportunity I have to work with a child as well as with his/her caregivers and/or teachers. I continually work on increasing my clinical knowledge and practical experience, especially in the areas of current evidence-based practices, augmentative and alternative communication, caregiver coaching, and communication intervention for infants and children with Down Syndrome.
